Sudarsan Chakra

What’s the story behind Sudarshan Chakra?

While there are many theories about it’s origin, the most accepted one is that it came from the Sun’s rays. Vishwakarma, was the architect of the Gods, and his daughter Sanjana was married to Surya. However due to Surya’s blazing heat and light, she was unable to look at him or be close to him. On his daughter’s request, Vishwakarma, made Surya lessen his shine, so that she could go closer to him. The left over Sun Dust, was collected by Vishwakarma and made into 3 objects. One was Lord Shiva’s Trishul, one was the Pushpaka Vimana, and the third was the Sudarshana Chakra. The Sudarshan Chakra had 10 million spikes in two rows moving in opposite directions, and was believed to represent the Sun’s rays.

As per the Shiva Purana, the Sudarshan Chakra was gifted by Shiva to Vishnu, when the latter worshipped him by offering 999 lotus flowers, and the thousandth one being one of his eyes.It was special in the sense that it was capable of defeating any number of enemies and later as Krishna was an incarnation of Lord vishnu, he had this “Sudarshan Chakra”. In a way it also accounts for the name too, Sudarshana literally meaning “Good Vision”. Sudarshan has a spiritual meaning and not any other meaning. Human civilization that started with Sree Lakshmi and Shree Narayan of golden age, later moving to Ram-Sita of silver age and gradually falling to bronze and now iron age , makes a journey in circular way.

Time is not like a constant X axis,rather it is a circular axis which repeats itself from one referenced starting point.

So in that case combining 2 logics;

1. All the ages ; as they are passed will again be repeated in same order.

2. ‘Yada Yada hi dharmasya’ will happen in extreme state of iron age and descending of highest almighty would help people of the world to reset this loop to its initial starting reference point.

Thus to remind this logic of circular axis of time and the journey of civilization – from where we started and now where we stand – this “Good Vision” term is coined. And yet one more thing, the word Sudarshan/Swadarshan chakra has 2 relevant meanings,

1. Sudarshan = Good Vision

2. Swadarshan = Self Vision
